Solitary horned owl hooting
Chittering kinglet, laughing pileated lord woodpecker
Complaining towhee kicking under manzanita
Their voices tread over hill also, deeper into felt-smooth dusk

Sitting on a boulder at the top
Kitkidizzee underfoot
Loud-toothed freeway in the valley
Eating silence
